The Tour of Homes is the largest annual fundraiser the Flatirons Building Council holds for its members. The money we raise from this event allows us to partner with Home Aid Colorado and make a generous contribution to Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley. Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley provides sanctuary for abused women and their children. Home Aid plans to build a home in Longmont for Safe Shelter clients. Construction has begun on the 7,000-square-foot home, which will house up to 25 women and children. Safe Shelter was founded in 1978 in Longmont by agroup of women concerned about the welfare of women and children in abusive situations. Today it provides a comprehensive system of programs and services to address the needs of domestic violence victims, such as a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelterand legal advocacy. As part of our long-standing commitment to the community, members of the Flatirons Building Council seek to provide housing to the whole community from the entry level home buyer to the empty nester.
